Committee People

  • Danny Sample

    Danny Sample is an Activist, a current NEA Union member and former Delegate and member to the Board of Directors of his local NEA, a Gifted Education Specialist, and a husband. He also holds the role of President of the 24th Ward Regular Democratic Organization, has created a website for the organization, and actively leads the membership in activities such as Voter Registration Drives and community outreach. He has held several roles for the state and national Democratic Party, such as: member to the state Nominating Committee, Delegate for Hillary Clinton, and Presidential Elector for Hillary Clinton. Danny never rests in his community activism through phone banking, marches, protests, and attending symposia for the rights of women, for the rights of the LGBTQIA, for the rights of people of color, for the rights of public education, and for the rights of immigrants. Danny is an active member of many human rights organizations: NARAL, Planned Parenthood, ACLU, Immigration Equality, Moms Demand Action, Human Rights Campaign, among others.

  • Teri Powers

    Teri was born and raised in St. Louis, MO, graduated from Roosevelt High School and is very proud of her public school education. Her undergraduate degree is in Elementary Education with a cognate minor in Early Childhood; she has a Masters of Social Worker degree from the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University and completed a two year post-graduate program at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute. Her career in providing psychotherapy to clients from varied backgrounds, including race, socio-economic and educational circumstance, has informed her work in politics and advocacy work. Currently, Teri serves on the advocacy board of NAMI, and is a member of Womens Voices Raised for Social Justice and MOPAG. In addition to her work as a committeewoman, Teri activity works with local campaigns.
